Answers:
1.   What is Serialized Key Control?
Serialized Key Control (SKC) is a method of controlling restricted keys by marking each key blank with a unique serial number. Serialization allows restricted key blanks to be stocked and authorized at a limited number of distribution locations. Once the blanks are turned into cut keys, the serialization allows them to be tracked at the user’s facility with a spreadsheet or key control software.

3.   How up-to-date is my key duplication history?
Key control information is updated in real time. As soon as a key cutter adds a key, you will see it on the website. The site is available continually, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

4.   Can I tell who is cutting keys for my facility?
Yes.  You can see who added keys, and when they were added.  Sign onto My SKC  with a key serial number or site number and your password, then click on View My Keys for a complete list.

5.   Is my keying data secure?
Keyauthorization.com does not store keying data.  That is maintained by the factory or by the local service provider who created the key system.  Keyauthorization.com only tracks key blank distribution and key cutting. The tracking data is protected by the same security and backup technologies used in the online banking industry.

6.   What do I do if I lost my password?
Contact the service provider who set up your system.  They will keep a backup of the original password, and they can contact us for a password reset.  If you are not sure who the service provider was, contact us  for help.

7.   How do I track my keys at my facility?
Your service provider will give you a list of serial numbers and key symbols, or you can copy the serial numbers directly off of this site and paste then into a spreadsheet.  If you use a commercial key control program, just follow the instructions on entering new keys.
